Manu Ecological Teparo 4 Days/ 3 Nights (Nearby Bonanza Ecological)

    miércoles, 15 septiembre, 2021 | Jungle Trips | 0 Comentarios

    Overview

    OVERVIEW:

Manu National Park, located in southeastern Peru, is one of the largest parks in South America. The area of the park encompasses parts of the Andean department of Cusco and the jungle department of Madre de Dios. Manu protects over 2 million hectares (4.5 million acres) of territory rich in flora and fauna species in a variety of habitats including high Andes, cloud forests and lowland tropical rain forests.

The UNESCO officially recognizes this natural paradise as a world heritage site. In 1977 they designated Manu as a World Biosphere Reserve, because it contains the best existing example of biodiversity in protected areas of rain forest, as well as endemic areas of cloud forest.

This is a great one day trip for anyone who enjoys biking; includes visiting not only Maras and the Inca ruins of Moray, but also the famous Salt Mine.

This beautiful bicycle tour, will allow you to discover the high part of the Sacred Valley of The Incas. This tour combines magnificent views of the Sacred Valley and the mountains snow overlooking, the discovery of archaeological sites and the freedom that comes with the practice of mountain biking on small roads and also having a view of the traditional agricultural life.

MARAS: Maras is a district of the Urubamba province, possible to be reached through a paved road from kilometer 50 on the road Cusco – Chinchero – Urubamba.

It is located towards the west of Cusco at an altitude of 3300 m. (10824 ft.); over a plain that in prehistoric times was a huge plateau, from which it is possible to observe the range of mountains of Urubamba including the snowcapped mountains of Weqey Willka (today «La Veronica», 5682m., 18641 ft) and » Chikon» (5530m., 18143 ft).

MORAY: About 7 kms. (4.3 miles) away southwest from Maras; Moray is a very unique archaeological site in the region.

It is possible to reach it by car through the dusty road and the path departing from the town.

Those are enormous natural depressions or hollows in the ground surface that Incas used for constructing irrigated farming terraces around them.

What is surprising is that the difference of average annual temperature between the top and the bottom reaches even about 15°C (59°F) in the main pression that is about 30 m. (100 ft) deep towards the northwest of the Maras village is the famous «Salt Works».  The Maras «Salt Works», to which some people call «salt mines», are constituted by about 3000 small pools with an average area of 5 m² (53.8 ft²), constructed in a slope of the «Qaqawiñay» mountain. People fill up or «irrigate» the pools during the dry season every 3 days, with salty water emanating from a natural spring located on the top of the complex, so that when water evaporates, the salt contained in it will slowly solidify.

    Overview

    OVERVIEW:

Huchuy Qosqo complex lies perched over the Sacred Valley of the Incas and after Pisac and Ollantaytambo; it´s the largest Inca archaeological center of the Valley.

This construction is earlier than Pisac and Ollantaytambo, since it was built by the Inca Trail of Peru. When the Chancas, the Incas rival people threaten Cusco in 1438, The Inca abandons the capital and took refuge in this Palace, Huchuy Qosqo or small Cusco.

During the Spanish conquest, Gonzalo Pizarro found on the site of Huchuy Qosqo an Inca Mummy and ordered to burn it. The descendants of the Inca recovered the ashes and retained it in a ballot box that was discovered in the years after.

This Inca site can be reached by foot; we can give you the opportunity to discover this wonderful place showing you two options of small treks without any kind of difficulty.

One will take you to the discovery of several archeological sites and typical villages of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the other one takes you to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu like ending point before coming back to Cusco.

    Itinerary

DAY 1: CHINCHERO (VALLEY OF CUPER) – PUCAMARCA – HUCHUY QOSQO.

We are going begin our journey by departing Cusco, by car, in direction of the Inca Site known as Chinchero (3760 m.). From here, we will begin our trekking up the road as it curves sharply up hill to reach a pass of near 4200 m.

We will continue to follow the trail down into the valley and towards the small community at the bottom. As we descend along the trail, you will see a beautifully green valley stretching out as far as the eye can see. Passing through the village, the trail takes us up over the second pass (4300 m.) and into high open country.

On the way, we will pass by the beautiful Qoricocha Lake (Golden Lake in Quechua).

We will continue along this rustic trail, with its stellar views of the surrounding mountain ranges.

Finally, we will descend towards the Huchuy Qosqo (3650 m), where we will arrive in the late afternoon.
