    Classic Arequipa Tour 4D/3N

    miércoles, 15 septiembre, 2021 | Peru Package | 0 Comentarios

    HIGHLIGHTS.

Arequipa is usually thought of as a good base for excursions into the great outdoors because of the nearby famous Canyon of Colca flanked by snow-capped volcanic peaks, and the wild terrain of the Canyon of Cotahuasi. The city is also a highlight in itself, with its many beautifully restored colonial mansions.

Arequipa include not only fascinating examples of colonial architecture but 17th century cathedrals, monastery and museums. Arequipa is known as the «White City» because its buildings are made out of off-white volcanic rock called sillar that sparkles in the sunlight. The city is a great place to hang out in between excursions. Visitors can enjoy the upbeat atmosphere, a pulsating nightlife, great shopping, and the excellent spicy food of the region.

See the best Arequipa has to offer to visitors. Visit the best of the White City and see its monasteries, cloisters, local markets, the main square and beautiful views from it’s main look out points. Don’t miss it! Take a look at this itinerary.

    Overview

    OVERVIEW.

Arequipa, the intellectual capital of modern Peru, is a prosperous city with some of the most beautiful colonial architecture in the country. No surprise then that Arequipeños are proud and fiercely independent people, and like to think of their city as a place separate from/and superior to the rest of the country (Peruvian people).

The Spanish conquered the region and founded the city as we know it today on August 15, 1840. It was during this period that many of the city’s buildings and structures were constructed from sillar, a white volcanic rock material. The prominence of sillar in the city’s architecture is what gives Arequipa its nickname, “The White City” (La Ciudad Blanca).

Arequipa played a major role in the country’s history during the 19th century, when it housed Peruvian nationalists and staged rebellions that eventually led to Peru’s declaration of independence from Spain on July 28, 1821.

The construction of the Southern Railroad in the 1870s and the Pan-American Highway in the 1930s brought new trade opportunities to the city, and today the city is an important regional hub for trade and industry, as well as a popular destination for domestic and international tourism.

Arequipa is an immensely popular travel destination for adventure travellers, as it is within easy reach of the Rio Chili, the Colca Canyon, and the volcanoes El Misti and Chachani. The city is a departure point for treks, hikes, climbs, downhill biking and whitewater rafting.

The colonial-era Santa Catalina Convent is a popular architectural attraction. Occupying two full city blocks the convent is almost a city within a city, a centuries-old self contained retreat which is now partially open to the public for daily tours. History buffs might be interested in a visit to the Museo de Sanctuarios Andinos to see the mummy of the frozen ice princess, Juanita. The mummy was retrieved from the slopes of El Misti, well preserved by the freezing temperatures, and provides a fascinating if morbid insight into Incan human sacrifice rituals.

Don’t leave Arequipa without trying one of its spicy regional dishes at a picantería or Quinta as the rocoto relleno, a spicy pepper stuffed with meat and layered with a rich cheese sauce is a regional taste.

    Overview

    OVERVIEW.

The Peruvian coast goes from the border with Ecuador on the North to the border with Chile on the South. It is a narrow plain, largely arid except for valleys created by seasonal rivers.

The Southern coast of Lima, in the Ica Region, includes the main valleys of Chincha, Pisco, Ica and the Nazca Rio Grande which have always been a great place for human settlements.

Ica is a region (formerly known as a department) in Peru. It borders the Pacific Ocean on the west; the Lima Region on the north; the Huancavelica and Ayacucho regions on the east; and the Arequipa Region on the south. Its capital is the city of Ica.

The Region of Ica that is divided into several provinces amongst which Ica and Nazca. This region is widely known for the Paracas culture (800 BC and 100 from our era) and the Nazca culture (100 BC and 600 from our era).

These cultures are notorious for their textiles and their ceramics as well as the lines traced in the desert and the great Cahuachi ceremonial Center. Treks in the Ica valley and the Rio Grande of Nazca basin give you the opportunity to see Paracas and Nazca relics. Nowadays, the majority of the archaeological remains are buried in the desert sand but several archaeological missions revealed their villages and public Centre.

Ica is well known to many travelers in Peru, due to its Huacachina oasis that is situated between enormous sand dunes. The oasis attracts many tourists as well as Peru’s rich families, due to the variety of adventurous sand activities that are available.

Ica is surrounded by deserts and is famous as the capital of the Peruvian department that gave birth to the famous liquor, Peruvian Pisco. The sweet, delicious and quite particular, are a delicacy for the senses.

The Nazca culture (also Nasca) was the archaeological culture that flourished from 100 BC to 600 AD beside the dry southern coast of Peru in the river valleys of the Rio Grande of Nazca drainage and the Ica Valley.

Having been heavily influenced by the preceding Paracas culture, which was known for extremely complex textiles, the Nazca produced an array of beautiful crafts and technologies such as ceramics, textiles, and geoglyphs (most commonly known as the Nazca lines). They also built an impressive system of underground aqueducts, known as puquios, that still function today. The Nazca Province in the Ica Region was named for this people.

The Nazca Lines are surely one of the most iconic sights in the world, and instantly recognizable by anyone. The lines are possibly even more famous for the various plausible and, frequently, implausible theories about who made them and how and when they were made, but the truth is that nobody really knows for sure.

    Lake Titicaca 2D/1Night

    miércoles, 15 septiembre, 2021 | Peru Package | 0 Comentarios

    HIGHLIGHTS.

Get contact with the Peruvian culture!

Visit the mystic city of Puno, and let you seduce by Uros Islands and the beautiful Amantani´s local homes.

You will have an opportunity to enjoy your vacations.

Puno has an enviable geography. The main attractions in Puno are outside the city: the floating communities of Lake Titicaca and the ancient Sillustani Chullpas. What there is to see in Puno doesn’t delay most visitors for more than a half-day or so. However, if you stumble upon one of Puno’s famously colorful festivals, you might want to linger.

    Overvierw

    OVERVIEW.

South America’s largest lake and the world’s highest navigable body of water, Lake Titicaca has long been considered a sacred place among indigenous Andean peoples. The people who live in and around the lake consider themselves descendants of Mama Qota, or Sacred Mother, and they believe that powerful spirits live in the lake’s depths.

According to Andean legend, Lake Titicaca — which straddles the modern border between Peru and Bolivia — was the birthplace of civilization. Viracocha, the creator deity, lightened a dark world by having the sun, moon, and stars rise from the lake to occupy their places in the sky.
Puno is located on the Andean plain dominated by the presence of Lake Titicaca, a sacred place for the Incas, with both natural and artificial islands, as well as pre-Hispanic archaeological sites with circular constructions known as chullpas. There are also churches with markedly colonial architecture. The region’s people are proud of their Quechua and Aymara past and a folkloric tradition that overflows each year during the Candelaria festival.
Puno is a legend, with multi colour festivals and natural and artificial islands.

Straddles the modern border between Bolivia and Peru was the birthplace of civilization, Lake Titicaca is one of the most fascinating lakes in the world. It is situated at a very high altitude, at over 3800 meters above sea level, and a tour at Titicaca is definitely an unforgettable experience for any visitor. When visiting Lake Titicaca, the town of Puno is the best place to stay.

The town of Puno is an interesting place to visit and a dazzling sight as it is the capital of folklore of Peru. It also has a beautiful old cathedral, and it is close to many attractions of Peru like the Machu Picchu or the town of Cusco.

Lake Titicaca, Its deep azure waters seemingly extend forever across the altiplano, under the monstrously wide sky. Daybreak and sunset are particularly stunning to witness.

Lake Titicaca is a sacred place for the Inca civilization, as the Incan mythology says that the first Inca king, Manco Capac, was born here. According to the Incan mythology, this is the place where the world was created from, when the god Wiracocha came out of the lake and created the sun, the stars and the first people. You will have many places to discover on the shore of Lake Titicaca, as well as on the many islands that exist on the lake.

On the Bolivian side of the lake you will find the fascinating town of Challapampa, home of the famous labyrinth (Chinkana). Also on the Bolivian side, you can find the biggest island of the lake, Isla Del Sol (Island of the Sun). While there are no roads on the island, making it not tourism friendly, the over 180 ruins from the Incan period are making it worth to visit.

You can go on a half-day tour of the Uros Floating Islands or a full-day tour that includes Taquile Island, but the best way to experience Lake Titicaca’s unique indigenous life is to stay at least 1 night on either Taquile or Amantaní, preferably in the home of a local family. Those with more time and money to burn may want to explore the singular experience of staying on private Isla Suasi, home to little more than a solar-powered hotel and a dozen llamas and vicuñas.

Its slopes and summits are tinged with intense shades of fuchsia, turquoise, lavender and gold; the visual spectacle offered by Vinincunca attracts visitors since early 2016, these sediments transported by the water that once covered the area, over time were forming layers and the movement of tectonic plates in the area raised these sediments until they became mountains. Then they acquired their striking colors due to the oxidation of its minerals, exerted by the humidity of the area and the erosion of the same ones that today are seen as the stripes that attract tourists so much.
