Cusco is located at an altitude of 3,360m above sea level. Cusco, which means ‘’navel of the world’’ in the Inca language (Quechua), has a mostly indigenous population of around 500,000 and is centered around the Plaza de Armas, which is dominated by the Cathedral and La Compañia de Jesus Church. Its cloistered arcades house many fine restaurants, bars and shops. Make the most of your free days in Cusco to explore its amazing churches, colonial buildings and picturesque streets, many of which have Inca walls, arches and doorways. On a hill overlooking the city stands the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman, where some of the most spectacular Inca walls can be found, including a massive 128 ton stone. There are also many optional excursions and activities available such as white water rafting, horse riding, and mountain biking and canoeing on offer.

Cusco is often referred to as the ‘’Archaeological Capital of the Americas’’, Cusco is a beautiful city riddled with contrasts between the indigenous styles and the modern western world. It is these contrasts that have given Cusco its rare beauty.

When arriving in Cusco from the coast you will immediately notice the thin clear mountain air, a result of the City’s high altitude. The first day in particular should be spent quietly relaxing and taking things easy as you gently acclimatize. This is an ideal opportunity to see the highlights Cusco has to offer such as a tour of the City, the nearby Inca Ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay and, of course, a day trip out to the Sacred Valley of the Incas including a visit to the traditional Indian market at Pisac, the beautiful village of Ollantaytambo and the small village of Chinchero located high up in the mountains.

Puno is located on the Andean plain dominated by the presence of Titicaca Lake, a sacred place for the Incas, with both natural and artificial islands, as well as pre-Hispanic archaeological sites with circular constructions known as chullpas.

Also there are churches with markedly colonial architecture. The region’s people are proud of their Quechua and Aymara past and a folkloric tradition that overflows each year during the Candelaria festival.
Puno is a legend, with multi colour festivals and natural and artificial islands.

DAY 01:  LIMA – CITY TOUR.

Transfer airport – hotel, free morning, in the afternoon we will take a city tour; we will visit the main attractives of Lima: Paseo de la Republica, San Martin Square, The Main Square, Goverment Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, Archiepiscopal Palace, Convent of Santo Domingo and the ancient streets and colonial houses. Transfer to selected hotel.

DAY 02: LIMA AND FLIGHT TO CUSCO

We will give you a welcome at the Cusco airport by our transfer and transport to your hotel (Coca tea courtesy).

DAY 03: SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS TOUR.

After our breakfast, about 09:00 a.m. you will have a long day trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It includes the market and archaeological place of Pisaq, Andean towns of Calca and Urubamba and the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. Back to Cusco.

DAY 04: TRAIN TRIP FROM CUSCO TO AGUAS CALIENTES MACHU PICCHU.

Early breakfast and transfer to the railroad station for a train trip to Machu Picchu.

Guided visit to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

DAY 05: MACHU PICCHU FREE DAY.

Free day in Machu Picchu.

If you want, you can go to Hot Springs and take a bath. At approximately 16:00hrs return by train to Cusco. Transfer to selected hotel.

DAY 06: CUSCO – CITY TOUR + NEARBY RUINS.

Free morning.

In the afternoon, at approximately 13:40hrs you will take a city tour; this tour includes the visit to Cusco´s cathedral, the Qoricancha temple (Temple of the Sun), the famous archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman, archaeological sites of Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

DAY 07: CUSCO TO PUNO (LAKE TITICACA).

In the morning take the tourist bus towards Puno, on the route visit archaeological and typical places such as Pikillaqta, Andahuaylillas, Raqchi and Pukara, arrival to Puno and transfer to selected hotel.

DAY 08: PUNO – COPACABANA AND SUN ISLAND.

In the morning, take a tour to Sun Island, in the afternoon return to Copacabana, and accommodation in Copacabana.

DAY 09: COPACABANA – PUNO – FREE DAY.

In the morning return to Puno by a tourist bus, free afternoon, you can visit museums, shopping centers, etc. or just rest.

DAY 10: PUNO – LIMA – FLIGHT BACK AT HOME.

Transfer at Juliaca’s airport for your flight to Lima and then take your connecting flight to home.

RECOMMENDED THINGS TO TAKE:

For the Inca Empire tour, you will need a change of clothes rain gear or poncho (plastic poncho cam be purchase in Cusco), mineral water one liter, warm jacket or fleece and wind coot, t-shirts, shorts and long pants, sun hat and wool hat, flashlight and extra batteries, sun block and insect repellent, toilet paper and garbage bag, small towel, camera, extra film and extra batteries for your camera, snacks, chocolates, energy bars, personal things.

PAYMENT DETAILS:

For the Inca Empire tour, we require a Prepayment (50%) of the total. The deposit can be sent by a WESTERN UNION or to our BANK ACCOUNT money transfer. This is the fastest and most secure form of payment in Peru. Once you arrive in Cusco you must pay the remaining balance in cash prior to beginning your tour. We accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles (local currency).
