The south of Cusco was a very important place for the development of the Inca Empire.
The people of this area called the Marcavalle were the first people in Cusco 1000 years before the birth of Christ.

The people who now occupy the area of San Geronimo have helped the area hugely in the development of hydraulic engineering.

Here, just south of Cusco, you will see many Inca archaeological sites.

SOUTHERN VALLEY TOUR: TIPON – PIKILLACTA and ANDAHUAYLILLAS.

We will pick you up from the Hotel at 08:30am. to drive past San Geronimo to Tipon, visiting these incredible places in the southern of Cusco.
Here, we will see the colonial home of Marques Valleumbrocio. We will then continue to the Inca ruins of Tipon. Considered one of the most important ruins, it lies about 23km south of Cusco.

Moving on, we will visit the Oropesa town which is famous for Chutas bread.

TIPON: is said to be a royal garden commissioned by Wiracocha. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terracing created by the Incas. These tall terraces which run up the narrow valley are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan, the mountain above the site. In addition to the terracing there are also some other structures at Tipon, including baths, a temple complex, canals and aqueducts. Tipon is definitely one of the lesser visited sites in the Cusco area but it is equally as impressive as those in the Sacred Valley. The Tipon Archeological Complex is located 24 km southeast of Cusco.

PIKILLAQTA: is the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area. This adobe complex was built around 700 to 900 years AD by the Wari Culture, in the area, there is a small Inca site just a short walk from Pikillacta, known as Rumicolca, a travel checkpoint for the Incas.

ANDAHUAYLILLAS: Here you find the «Sixtine Chapel of Peru», a church that is home to golden altars, paintings and many colored ceilings. The chapel is simple and unassuming on the outside, but on the inside you’ll find masterpiece after masterpiece. Also, some paintings from famous “Escuela Cusqueña” can be appreciated.
On the return, pass Saylla typical Cusco where people can enjoy the delicious pork chicharrones, or roasted ginea pig (optional).

After the tour, we are going back to Cusco for approximately at 14:00 hrs.

At you arrival to Cusco, we will meet and transfer you to your selected hotel.

RECOMMENDED THINGS TO TAKE:

For this tour, you will need to wear light shoes or slippers or tennis, mineral water one liter (drink plenty of fluids in excursions), jacket or fleece and wind coot, t-shirts, shorts or long pants, sun hat and wool hat, sun block, garbage bag, camera, extra film and extra batteries for your camera, snacks, chocolates, energy bars, a light backpack, Carry currency in small denominations dollars or soles, Sunglasses, plastic bags, Medicine if you use.

PAYMENT DETAILS:

For the Sacred Valley tour, we require a Prepayment (50%) of the total. The deposit can be send by a WESTERN UNION or to our BANK ACCOUNT money transfer. This is the fastest and most secure form of payment in Peru. Once you arrive in Cusco you must pay the remaining balance in cash prior to beginning your tour. We accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles (local currency).
