Maras, Moray, and Salt Mine tour is perfect for those looking to experience the region’s archeological and cultural treasures in a short amount of time.

This is a short trip that sees the most important ruins in the highlands between Cusco and the Urubamba valley with a constant view of snowcapped mountains on the other side of the valley.

We travel over gentle green hills and pass through small picturesque towns.

MARAS – MORAY AND SALINERAS TOUR.

We will pick you up from your hotel at approximately 08:30 am by private car, and we will drive towards Moray.

We will arrive at the Archaeological Park of Moray, where you will stay for about 20 minutes to enjoy the beauty of nature and the unusual Inca terraces. This part of the tour is very attractive because of its rolling hills.

Continuing our trip, you arrive at the village of Maras.

After we ride in Maras, you will feel the peace of the Andean countryside and enjoy your freedom.

You continue your ride to the terraces of salt pans below Maras, where we end our magnificent tour at approximately 14:00 hrs. Your vehicle will be there to take you back to your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.

MORAY, a further breathtaking 20 kms drive with the beautiful snow-capped Chicon and Veronica mountains in the Cordillera Vilcanota as a backdrop, we continue through to Moray.

In Moray, we will visit “the Inca agricultural greenhouse or laboratory”, consisting of four platforms amphitheater style. Has a depth of 150 meters; the overlapping concentric circular stone rings widen as they rise. It was an experimental place to study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems.

MARAS AND SALINERAS (SALT MINE).
Located 7 miles from Moray at an altitude of 3,380 m is a small village, a model of a miniature city. Famous for its salt mine, made up of about 3000 small wells with an average area size of about 5 ms ². These were already exploited since Inca times as a means of economic exchange and security. Very interesting to see how the salt is recovered from these mines and the lives of those who work here.

The salt mine consists of platforms based on pools of salt water that come from Pre-Inca, Inca, Colonial, and contemporary periods. Today, the people of Maras continue to work on the exploitation of salt.

This place becomes a prime attraction for tourists. When we finish the tour, we are going to come back to Cusco.

At your arrival in Cusco, we will meet and transfer you to your selected hotel.

For this tour, you will need to wear light shoes or slippers or tennis, mineral water one liter (drink plenty of fluids in excursions), jacket or fleece and wind coot, t-shirts, shorts or long pants, sun hat and wool hat, sun block, garbage bag, camera, extra film and extra batteries for your camera, snacks, chocolates, energy bars, a light backpack, Carry currency in small denominations dollars or soles, Sunglasses, plastic bags, Medicine if you use.

For this tour, we require a Prepayment (60%) of the total, payable via a secure online payment link that we will send you. Please note that an additional 5% fee will be charged to cover the cost of the payment link. On the day of the tour, you must pay the remaining balance in cash. We accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles (local currency).
