OVERVIEW:

With the Vinicunca Colored Mountain Tour, we will appreciate a chain of mountains that, as we go up, will change their colors until we reach Vinicunca, known as the Rainbow Mountain for its similarity to the colors of the rainbow, and known as Cerro Colorado. And the large amount of minerals that have been revealed product of the thaw has obtained its colors that attract hundreds of tourists a year.

RAINBOW MOUNTAIN OR MOUNTAIN OF COLORS, the villagers call it Cerro Colorado or Vinincunca, is a mountain of Peru with an altitude of 5,200 meters above sea level. This mountain is located on the road to the snowy Ausangate in the Cordillera del Vilcanota, in the district of Pitumarca.

Its slopes and summits are tinged with intense shades of fuchsia, turquoise, lavender, and gold; the visual spectacle offered by Vinincunca has attracted visitors since early 2016. These sediments, transported by the water that once covered the area, over time formed layers, and the movement of tectonic plates in the area raised these sediments until they became mountains. Then they acquired their striking colors due to the oxidation of their minerals, exerted by the humidity of the area and the erosion of the same ones that today are seen as the stripes that attract tourists so much.

DAY 1: PICK UP FROM HOTEL – CUSIPATA – MONTAÑA DE COLORES (COLORED MOUNTAIN)

04.00 – 04.30 hrs: the colorful mountain tour starts when we pick you up from your hotel and start the trip in a minivan. After 2hrs we will arrive in the town of Cusipata, where we will make a small stop and enjoy a good breakfast (Travel time 2 hours).
Then we board the mobility again and travel for 1 hour to reach the starting point of the hike.
We will walk 2km approx. (1 h) through the mountains, enjoying beautiful high Andean landscapes accompanied by the snow-capped mountains of the Andes; without a doubt, the route rewards the long bus ride we made.
After 1 h. of walking, we will arrive at our destination, the mountain of colors, where we can enjoy the spectacle of colors that gives us the Pachamama (mother earth). We will have 40 min. to enjoy the scenery.

Then we will start the return, which will be easier because everything will be downhill. 12.00 hrs. We will take our transport to our restaurant in Cusipata, where we will have a nutritious buffet lunch.

Finally, we will return to Cusco city, where we will arrive at 17.00 hrs approx. and we will leave you near the main square.

RECOMMENDED THINGS TO TAKE:

For this tour, you will need to wear light shoes or slippers or tennis, mineral water one liter (drink plenty of fluids in excursions), jacket or fleece and wind coot, t-shirts, shorts or long pants, sun hat and wool hat, sun block, garbage bag, camera, extra film and extra batteries for your camera, snacks, chocolates, energy bars, a light backpack, Carry currency in small denominations dollars or soles, Sunglasses, plastic bags, Medicine if you use.

PAYMENT DETAILS:

For this tour, we require a Prepayment (50%) of the total. The deposit can be sent by WESTERN UNION or to our BANK ACCOUNT via money transfer. This is the fastest and most secure form of payment in Peru. Once you arrive in Cusco, you must pay the remaining balance in cash before beginning your tour. We accept both US Dollars and Peruvian Soles (local currency).
