(Closed February)
The Inca Trail is closed in February for maintenance
The availability applies to both the 2 day and 4 day Inca Trail, once a date has sold out no further permits will be made available even if there are cancellations.
A large number of permits does not mean that date will be available for an extended period. Dates that are one of the first available sell out very quickly and it is not uncommon to see over 100 permits sell in a matter of hours.
Availability is controlled by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture. Only they are able to manage and authorize the access to the Inca Trail.
According to the current regulations there are only 500 permits available per day, including the guides and support staff. Normally support staffs make up 2/3 of all the permits so there are on average only 180 tourists per day.
Reservations can only be made for the current season (from March to January). If you wish to book for the next season then you can pre-book with an agency, however permits cannot be taken out until early January so availability cannot be guaranteed.
